There are many woods to each section. Complete with a directory of Woodland Trust Properties. Approx over 250 very clean pages . The binding is in white and grey laminated plastic , with a ' nature park ' design. made up of the symbols used on countryside maps. An excellent book for any nature lover or conservationalist with a love for our ancient woodlands. To concur with the nature of The Trust , the book has been made using re-cycled paper. -- A heavy book - priced to include any extra postage on top of the usual.(UK only) Outside the UK , there may be a small extra postage charge.

The guide is prefaced by general information on the various categories - national nature reserves, national parks, etc ; and for each site mentioned there are full details of how to reach it, and where to go when you get there, as well as details of the birds, animals and flowers, you may expect to see. There is also complete information on routes, permits, access, etc, and where necessary the text is supplemented by sketch maps. The places covered range from the vast Lakeland National Park, to the tiny Rex Graham Nature Reserve, which is only open one afternoon a year. They include nature reserves, national parks, botanic gardens, zooz and safari parks, footpaths long and short, bird and waterfowl gardens, and a personal selection of walks in every area of the country.

Previous owner's name neatly inscribed to top left hand corner of opening page. 96 pages including an index, black and white photographs and line drawings interspersed amongst the text. In this book, L. F. Hobley tells the absorbing story of farming in Britain from the arrival of Neolithic Man in about 3000 B.C. right up to the present day (1972) with its large-scale methods of growing crops and scientific rearing of animals. In talking about the great improvements which each century brought and the changes in our countryside as more and more land was needed for cultivation, the author also tries to describe what the life of a farner was, and is, really like: its hardships, struggles and often monotonous day-to-day activities.

It follows the scenery of each county , practically mile by mile, as seen by those in search of its beauties. Avoiding the main routes, it travels along the byways searching out undiscovered parts of this beautiful area. Illustrated with bllack/white photographs. The book is in very good condition, although the pages are browning due to age. The cover is in one piece, but has some tears to top and bottom edge and to the folded edges. one diagonal folded crease ( now smooth ) across the front. The book is now covered in bookbinders clear film, and looks well for a book of its age.The cover shows a rural scene.
