The dj is price clipped, presumably by the publisher, as their price of 3.50 is still there.There is some bumping to the top of the spine and there is a degree of soiling, but is otherwise intact, with few signs of wear. This is a heavy book for its size, 384 pages, which are tight and very clean. This book presents the long history of zzology in graphic and dramatic form. Relating scientific developments to the cultural background of each period, it is a story of great discoveries, controversies and divergent viewpoints, unfolded in terms of leading scientists, who were brilliant, often neurotic and always colourful. All the great names are here - and lesser-known figures too - from Aristotle and Pliny to Buffon, Darwin, Huxley, and the ethnologists, ecologists and molecular biologists of our own day. Their own accomplishments are carefully examined and described, each new insight and discovery linked to those preceding and following it. This is an enlightening book that will prove rewarding to every reader who has wondered about the mysteries of animal life abd recognizes that man is one living creature among many species, all sharing citizenship of the planet.
