A charming little book , beatifully illustrated by E. S. Hardy. There is a prize inscription to inner first page dated Xmas 1911. The book has fawn/cream boards which are a little soiled to the front cover, less so, but 'dusty ',to the back cover. There is a small ink stain to the bottom of the front board app. 1/4in x 1/3in. The cover shows a child at play with a child and an adult looking on. The corners of the book lightly warn , but the other edges only show slight shelf wear with minor bumping to the top and bottom of the spine.The binding is brginning to come away from the pages but is still holding together and could be easily repaired. There is a wonderful colour plate to the third page and several black/white drawings throughout the book. The pages are browning and the inner back pages are also 'dusty '.Although the binding needs moderate repair the rest of the book is quite tight.
