A very good copy of this book. 234 clean pages plus reading list. The jacket is also in very good condition, with only the lightest of edge wear. --- Denis Owen begins this book with animals, plants and situations we all know - thrushes and earthworms on the lawn, and herons and pike in the river - and describes with great clarity ( and often humour) how they live and why they die. He goes on to consider man as a part of nature and explains how ecology affects us, and our supplies of food, oil, and other raw material. In this completely rewritten new edition, he pays particular attention to recent events - Dutch Elm Disease, and oil tanker disasters.
